recycling baler, waste baler

Welcome to our informative guide on the preparations for the installation of a recycling baler. Installing a baler machine is a crucial step towards efficient waste management in various industries. However, before the recycling baler arrives at your facility and embarking on the installation process, it is imperative to undertake thorough preparations such as installation location selection, electric preparations, tools, materials, etc. to help your installation process go smoothly. By following these guidelines, you can ensure a hassle-free setup and maximize the efficiency of your recycling operations.

Site Evaluation

The first step is to conduct a site evaluation. It involves finding an ideal location for installing the baler machine. When you are selecting the installation location, you need to consider a few factors that may influence the location selection. These factors usually include:

  • Adequate space for housing the baling machine and conveyor (if there is) and better to consider potential expansion in the future if there is possibility, like waste volume increase, or like add feeding conveyor, etc.
  • Adequate space for the incoming material for feeding into the baler.
  • Adequate space for material and compressed bales handling equipment moving around (i.e. forklift, clamp truck, hand truck).
  • The baler should be placed as close to the source of the waste as possible. This can minimize the time and labor needed for moving the waste material to the baler for feeding.
  • Having access to the power source.
  • Be sure not to place the baler near any potential hazards such as water leakages, flammable materials, or overhead powerlines.
  • The location should be convenient for staff and operators to operate the machine and also convenient and enough space for maintenance or repairs.
  • If you have other existing equipment in the facility to use in conjunction with the baler, you need to consider the position, layout, and space.

Electric Preparations

Most of the industrial recycling balers will use on three-phase power supply. As different countries and different regions may use different power supply, before producing each machine, Makabale will confirm with you your power supply requirement in your facility, then your baler will carry the motor of your required voltage and frequency, and we will also provide you the detailed specifications including motor power of the baler you ordered.

You need to arrange a local electrician beforehand to check if any adjustment is needed in your facility and get the electric system prepared. And need the electrician to connect the baler with your power supply during baler installation.

Check if a backup power source is needed such as a generator, to prevent downtime during power outages. It ensures an uninterrupted baler operation and prevents material accumulation.

Making the Area Vacant

Before the machine reaches your facility, you need to clear the location or room where you plan to install the baler, and clear the path the machine will come in.

Prepare the Hydraulic Oil

You need to prepare the hydraulic oil which will be used for the baler machine. The baler machine you purchased from Makabale will not carry hydraulic oil as it is not allowed to have hydraulic oil in the machine for shipment. We will tell you what hydraulic oil specifications need for your baler, or you can find the detailed information from the Operator’s Manual.

Prepare the Floor

The floor for installing the baler should be level, smooth and capable of supporting the weight of the baler. Usually, balers can be directly placed on the reinforced concrete floor with proper anchoring by bolts or anchors.

For large horizontal balers with pit type in-feed steel conveyor, you will need to prepare the pit for placing the conveyor as well.

Tools And Equipment for Unloading

Before the baler arrives at your facility, get prepared of the unloading and moving equipment such as forklift, crane, lifting ropes, and machinery rollers, or contact the local professionals who do this job for you.

Enough Material for Commissioning

After the baling press is installed, you will need to start up the machine and conduct commissioning with sufficient baling material, and also need to prepare the straps or baling wires for tying up the compressed bales.

Routine Maintenance Is Crucial

The above are just some tips and guidelines for the preparation of a recycling baler installation. Well, after the successful installation, you will need to study the Operator’s Manual carefully and be trained before operation.

Having the proper operating habit and doing regular maintenance and inspections according to the Manual’s instructions is crucial not only to prevent unnecessary downtime, ensuring the proper functioning of the baling press, but also ensuring the long service life of the recycling baler.
